The suicide exam

Shame and embarrassments blocking your outer world while your inner world cracked allowing the suicide fluid to sip in. Afraid to face both worlds and you opting to shut the doors on the faces of your loved ones. Care and responsibilities slipping through your right hand then silence and vengeance to the ones who hurt you climbing through your left hand.

It doesn’t hurt to tell people you are hurting. Perhaps they will stop stepping on you with their eight-inch highheels. Forgiving doesn’t burn,it actually strengthens the bond.

But the pride you installed, opened a new folder, and added the suicide exam. It displayed options that include, throwing yourself from a tenth floor building, being run over by a speeding car, driving a sharpen kitchen knife to your organs, hanging yourself and lastly, the less painful, swallowing overdosed pills.

Memories flash in,tears running down your cheeks. You can’t bear them. You have made your decision. The pills on the table and a glass of water to gable them down. One,two ,three pills you swallow, you are breathing heavily, you feel your airway blocked, the fourth pill, throws you down on the floor. Your hands on your neck as you try to vomit out the pills.

Realization hits you, that you the option you chose, was a bad move but its too late, too late to reverse.

The silence is killing us. They say we should tell it to our elders yet the same elders are the ones who chase us away. We try to find comfort in drugs, crime, gangs, because we are neglected. But also we are the problem,we shut ourselves from progress. Who will save us…

Dribbling to Egerton

The basketball school team will be dribbling their way to Egerton on Saturday,1/2/20. Practice began early this semester as new members joined in. Their daily practice held at the student center.

During the tournament held in Moi West campus

This is not their first game,as they had tournaments with other teams from different universities like Maseno university,Moi west campus,University of Eldoret. They would came back with grinning faces evident that they knocked their opponents and took the lead.

As they prepare for the game, the school will be providing the school team with a bus and will cater for other expenses.

Some of the players

And as they say, practice makes perfect, expectations are that they will bring victory and carry the school’s name higher.

Election bells in Moi ring again

Desirable candidates winning the hearts of their voters with posters and preaching their manifestos.
Campaigns have not been approved by the school council but it is evident that the students have made their choices. With full hope that they(the candidates)will adhere to their promises, their voters are willing to do every thing for their upcoming leader.
As per the Moi constitution, elections are done annually.

One of the candidates

The question of who may vote is certainly an important issue. The electorate probably never includes the entire population. Almost all countries prohibit individuals under the age of majority from voting. For example, in our country, the age of majority is attainable at the age of 18 years. But in this case, all Moi university students can vote.

An election is an excellent opportunity for people to express their resentment. Most noteworthy, if people are unhappy with a particular leadership, then they can remove it from power. And for the voters, they only require their school identification card, for them to vote.

As we await the election dates,we hope that the elections would be free and fair

The lost culture

We are beautifully and wonderfully made in God’s eyes, but the dressing code we adopted shows irony that we are God’s children.
First it was the sagging of trousers whose origin is worse than you think. Later we learnt that it was fashion.
Then came ‘my dress,my choice’. Where all types of dresses, the mini’s,off shoulders,bra-less and the almost nude dresses came to life.
Brought up in families where we were taught to respect our bodies and cover them fully,we clutch on the teachings but we let go easily when we our feet make contact with the university background.
Just one look at the dressing code students attempt to wear and you will remain shaking your head in disapproval.

Despite the chilly weather in Moi university, some would rather freeze but shine.
And of course, our elders lost faith in us,that’s why they never have a say in our taste of fashion.
We do know it is a stage of life and some day the memories would flash in and we will be disappointed.

The new era of dressing

Abandoned hostels

Hostel H

Hostels are cheaper and are located inside the school. Meaning, less time taken to reach classes and assured more security. Regardless of the advantages, only few dorms have been filled.

The new semester started with unoccupied hostels. Despite the many hostels in Moi,students opted to stay in rentals outside the school premises. This is alleged to have occurred after the VC painted a new law that no cooking was allowed in hostels.

The Vice Chancellor,Prof Isaac Kosgey, during the launch of the renovated hostel H
Students had to troll to hotels to get meals. The long journey would be cut short when the rains visit.
Now the stage houses are overflowing. A bed sitter sheltering five people. I wonder who sleeps on the bed and there is no privacy.

And apart from the cooking ban, students preferred rentals because there is minimal disturbance from the hostel janitors who knocked from time to time lecturing about the do’s and dont’s in hostels.

Campus love

Love is a sacred thing. Campus love may seem like an interesting thing to try.
Despite the lovey dovey couples that walk around the academic highway, publicly displaying their affection, there is much more to that.

Love is not about the many pictures you have together. It’s not about the many dates you go. It’s not about the public you create to show people that you are in love. It’s not even about the kissing, holding hands or the shoots you went together,or the matching outfits.

Neither is it about the sleepovers.

It’s about the support you give to each other. It’s about the loyalty, how you build each other, the sincerity, being with someone who makes you happy in a way that no one else can. It’s about being with someone that accepts you and your weirdness, being yourself around them and them being their selves around you.

Those are true goals but so much different from the Campus love goals.

Campus love is seen to be PDAs,sex life and social status. Campus relationships included washing clothes and doing house chores for the opposite sex while he or she was out to class. ‘Campus love is like adding another unit to your course,’said one student,’Just like you are committed to your studies, you then have to be committed to your partner,’ the student added.
The rising cases of suicide among the young generation are said to have been yielded from campus love.

Heartbreaks, unfaithfulness, rejection bring about embarrassments, shame and rejection from the so called trending love society. One is unable to hear the pain of loosing your soul called love partner and may head up suicide thoughts, where the affected party cuts himself/herself from the laughing society.

Where have the old days gone to,where else’s would not allow young love to blossom till the ripe age.

If my scars could talk

If my scars could talk
Then books would be published📚
My mirror would crack coz it has seen all of my scars😒
My towel would shed tears for it has wiped the fresh blood that oozed from the scars😞

If my scars could talk
Then I need no tattoos, for my skin is painted😔
The whip would confess, coz it has licked my skin😟
The chair would tell of the painful groans it heard when I tried to sit😕

If my scars could talk
Then my pillow would complain of how I washed it with warm tears🙁
The warm shower would be lawyer,to defend and stand up for me,for it has tried to soothe my pains☹
The wall would be my witness😣

If my scars could talk
Then my body would agree that the scars are the only thing that I inherited from being nice😖
Treating people well😫
Giving people first priority
In the end,am the one to suffer😩
So dear scars, shout out to them, make them understand that the pains are unbearable, tell them that my heart is weakening 😢and remind them that am also human…😭😭
